How to Clean a Desktop PC Safely
A careful routine for removing dust from a desktop computer while protecting its components.
Prepare the computer
Shut down, switch off and unplug the PC. Move it to a ventilated area and let hot components cool. Touch unpainted case metal before handling internal components.
Remove dust gently
Use short bursts of compressed air or an electronics-safe blower. Hold fan blades still while cleaning. Do not use a household vacuum directly on circuit boards.
Clean filters and check
Let washable filters dry completely before reinstalling. Avoid liquids inside the PC. Reconnect cables and check fans spin normally. If temperatures stay high, inspect airflow and cooler mounting.
