PC Case Airflow: A Simple Setup That Works

Set up case fans to move cool air through components without adding unnecessary noise.

Give air a clear route

Most cases work well with cool air entering at the front or bottom and warm air leaving at the rear or top. Aim for a predictable path across the GPU and CPU rather than the maximum fan count.

Balance intake and exhaust

Fan positions, filters and openings affect pressure and dust. Start with the case maker's recommended layout, then monitor temperatures during a normal gaming session.

Tune gradually

Set a quiet idle and smooth fan ramp under load. Clean filters and avoid blocking vents. If temperatures remain high, check room temperature and cooler mounting before buying extra fans. See cleaning advice.
