Gaming PC Temperatures: What to Check First
A practical way to investigate high temperatures without relying on one universal temperature limit.
Measure repeatably
Record room temperature and observe CPU and GPU during the same game or workload. Brief spikes differ from sustained heat; consult component specifications for their limits.
Check airflow
Ensure vents are clear, filters clean and fans oriented correctly. A case in a closed cabinet or against a wall can trap warm air.
Inspect and change gradually
Check cooler mounting, fan curves and pump connections. Change one setting at a time and repeat the workload. See our airflow guide.
