How to Choose a Graphics Card for Your Games
Learn how resolution, frame rate, memory and power requirements affect a graphics card choice.
Match the card to your monitor
Resolution and refresh rate set the rendering workload. At 1440p or 4K, the GPU usually has more influence than at modest 1080p settings. Compare benchmarks at the resolution you use, not just a headline specification.
Read benchmarks carefully
Compare several games and note average frame rates as well as slower moments. Upscaling can improve performance where supported, but check native performance and image quality too.
Check memory, size and power
Video memory needs vary by game and settings. Verify card length, thickness, power connectors and PSU capacity against your case. Review our power supply guide before choosing.
